Spiritual Journey, Medicine & Peru

As I write this post, I sit in a small hillside hotel in Cusco, Peru at the start of a two week spiritual journey. I'm 50 now and I see the world differently. My view no longer cooped by nations, politics and people, but rather as a magnificent gem begging to be discovered. Perhaps this is my mid-life hero's journey as I ride out my Chiron return.
My life, pretty much unrecognizable from three years ago. No longer in upstate New York, having parted ways from generations of lineage. No longer wearing a wedding ring, sleeping in separate rooms. No longer tied to my job, career or profession as my identity. No longer stuck in old belief patterns and the security of my comfort zone.
I've stepped out, without a doubt and Peru is about the journey and the medicine. As a person who has struggled with addiction, codependency and thinking small. The matrix above was confinement, predictable and lacked a future. This mid-life opportunity is about transformation and leaning into the unknown.
In just a few days a group of 10, gay and/or queer identified men will head out on a four day trek to Machu Picchu and the sacred value. We will be challenged physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Largely a group of strangers brought together by Ofer for this RainbowMen's Retreat.
Without a doubt, a draw for many of us is the opportunity to participate in a two day Ayahuasca ceremony. Having largely received the spiritually call and intuitive desire in a profoundly transitional point in our lives. We will all be first timers, with the exception of Ofer.
I've made the decision to take this journey in part to heal as well as to challenge myself. I've only begun to scratch the surface of what I am capable of manifesting and creating. I have big ass plans for the future. Expanding in ways I had never dreamed of until now. Organizing and planning tantra retreats in other countries. Focusing my personal coaching services on intimacy and nurturing my Sacred Intimate practice. Building my business and utilizing multiple sources of income to redesign my day to day life. Setting the intention to leave my secure full-time position to become a kick-ass healer in this new age of Aquarius in the next six months.
I have the audacity to dream now, to imagine bigger and the abilityto release the things that no longer serve me and keep me small. That means making big changes to the people, places and things I devote my time. My future is about expansion and this sacred journey in Peru, the trek to Machu Picchu and this sacred medicine experience are all part of the fuel that will undoubtedly propel my next chapter.
This journey and these changes didn't come about on a whim or a fluke, but rather by the undeniable pain and suffering of a life craving to be lived. Not an ordinary life, but an extraordinary one. One with no regrets. No longer tied to a country or religion. No longer comfortable within a culture of repression and detached from my body. No longer just serving the ego and the conscious mind, but rather a collective calling to model and challenge others like myself to be more.
I know I am capable of accomplishing anything, when I'm in the flow, aligned with the universe and serving a higher purpose. One that treasures life, time and this incredible planet we call home. I'm jazzed.
